About The Position

The Krusteaz Company is looking for a Third Shift Sanitation Technician to join our Effingham team. The Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all areas of the food manufacturing plant to ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This role involves working in various production areas, using specialized cleaning equipment, and following strict safety and sanitation procedures. This position is responsible for sanitizing the equipment, floors, restrooms, rooms, tools, and other equipment using approved chemicals, cleaning methods, and tools. This position is non-exempt.

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate in English with team members and supervisors through various channels, including radio, email and in-person interactions.
  • Stand and walk on a hard, wet surface floor for full work shift.
  • Able to move and lift heavy objects up to 60 pounds.
  • Squeeze, grab, reach, move, lift, hold and other physical movements in order to detail clean and sanitize production equipment.
  • Work in wet environments with appropriate full body PPE and the approved chemicals.
  • Work in high places and confined spaces, and frequently climb, bend, and maneuver in restricted or tight areas.
  • Have a customer service and quality focus with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a high level of reliability and attendance to support a 24/7 environment.
  • Follow safety, GMP and other company and regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately read and interpret chemical labels, instructions and SDS sheets in English
  • Must be available to work any shift as needed.
  • Work overtime and alternative work schedules as needed.
  • Previous experience in sanitation or cleaning roles, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Employee must follow procedures to ensure all food quality standards are met or exceeded.
  • Employees are required to conduct their work in a safe and legal manner, according to all GMP food safety standards as well as following any safety protocols.
  • Employees must be willing to be responsible for their safety and health as well as the safety and health of all employees, vendors and visitors.

  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly.
  • Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the entire duration of the shift.
  • Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to clean various equipment and facility areas.
  • Manual Dexterity: Must have good manual dexterity to handle and operate cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Climbing: Ability to climb stairs and ladders as needed to reach high areas and equipment.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Must be able to push and pull heavy cleaning equipment and carts.

Nice To Haves

  • Progressive skill levels require the willingness and ability to attain Genie boom, scissor lift, and floor scrubber certification.

Responsibilities

  • Executes the sanitation and/or COP processes including breaking down, cleaning, and reassembling equipment for sanitation processes.
  • Understands and effectively uses all sanitation equipment and approved chemicals that support line sanitation.
  • Perform established work practices according to standard work and operating procedures, Master Cleaning Schedule (MCS), Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  • Perform sanitation and detail cleaning of areas such as floors, walls, sinks, racks, tables and chairs, bins, paddles, and other tools, equipment, and features that come in contact with food.
  • Provide accurate account of work performed on the Master Sanitation Schedule and other reports.
  • Perform janitorial services in breakroom, restroom, offices, conference rooms, and locker rooms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as taking out the trash, mopping, sweeping, dusting, and ensuring all GMP receptacles are filled.
