About The Position

The Sanitation Technician cleans and sanitizes food manufacturing equipment, machinery, and production areas while strictly following federal food safety regulations, including FDA and USDA standards, as well as company policies such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations, principles, and techniques related to environmental and public health is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate effectively and prepare clear, concise reports.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and climb for the duration of a shift.
  • Must be able to frequently lift 50–75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in wet, cold, hot, or noisy environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sanitation, food manufacturing, or related industrial cleaning experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with food safety programs, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP, strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in sanitation, food manufacturing, or a related industrial cleaning environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Master Sanitation Schedule to complete routine and deep cleaning of production lines, equipment, floors, walls, and work surfaces.
  • Disassemble and reassemble production equipment, including pumps, belts, and mixers, for cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Operate industrial cleaning tools such as high-pressure hoses, floor scrubbers, and foam applicators.
  • Safely mix, handle, and apply industrial-strength cleaning chemicals and sanitizers according to safety data sheets (SDS) and company procedures.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) during cleaning activities.
  • Accurately complete sanitation logs and checklists and assist with pre-operational inspections and swabbing to confirm equipment is clean and production ready.
  • Collect and properly dispose of waste, trash, and recyclables.
  • Report safety hazards, spills, equipment damage, or sanitation non-compliance issues to a supervisor promptly.
  • Work with production and maintenance teams to support efficient changeovers and reduce production downtime.
