Reporting to the Maintenance Operations Director, this role serves as a member of and resource to the Operational Recovery Mission (STORM) Team. The Sanitation Manager conducts hands-on training with plant personnel and directs the coordination of the Sanitation department functions to ensure compliance with the Company’s Vision and Mission Statements. This role promotes plant safety through participation on the Safety Sub-committee, education of employees, compliance to safety programs and incentives, and is responsible for the completion of all monthly Safety Training and weekly 7-Minute Training by production supervisors prior to deadlines. The position also promotes Food Safety through participation in the Food Safety Sub Committee, Food Defense Team, HACCP, Internal Auditing, and Traceability Team. The Sanitation Manager conducts weekly Safety and Sanitation inspections, maintains documentation, and ensures permanent solutions are implemented for re-occurring problems. Additionally, this role participates, promotes, and trains Sanitation Leads in the use of Lean manufacturing tools to continuously improve process activities, improve overall quality by reducing risk of yeast and mold counts, reducing costs of both production and maintenance, participating in changeover downtime reduction, and increasing the overall efficiency of each department by maximizing the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The Sanitation Manager participates, promotes, and trains Production Supervisors and Leads in the 5S methodology and leads the deployment of these practices into the Production culture. This role is responsible for bringing World Class Manufacturing initiatives to the Production Department and creating a culture of continuous improvement through employee performance measurement in key activities. The Sanitation Manager will develop, implement, and follow-up plans to accomplish departmental goals and provide service to the operations of the plant. This role provides support and necessary safety and food safety training to keep the sanitation department in compliance with OSHA and AIB standards. The Sanitation Manager performs safety and sanitation audits, provides support in training when needed to plant employees to better develop overall Plant Safety and Food Safety, and collaborates in the development and accomplishment of the department budget. This role produces or assists in preparing written reports for management or Corporate needs, purchases all materials required for the operation of the department including safety equipment, and enforces all company policies, procedures, and regulations. The Sanitation Manager develops and implements improvements and changes in work instructions, job descriptions, and training needs. This role must be able to keep administrative paperwork current regarding schedules, inspections, inventories, and management reports. The Sanitation Manager keeps employees informed on factors relating to their work assignment, work progress, and opportunity for advancement. This role is responsible for evaluating, as deemed necessary by the company, the performance of introductory employees, regular employees, and employees who are being terminated, and schedules vacation for Sanitation Department Employees. The Sanitation Manager develops and maintains the master sanitation schedule, participates in Safety Committee meetings, accident reviews, conducts monthly safety training meetings, and special safety requirements. This role also leads the food safety committee and prepares monthly and weekly food safety reports for management.
