About The Position

Tends machine that performs one or more packaging functions such as filling, marking, and/or labeling by performing the following duties.

Requirements

• Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Basic knowledge of computers and the ability to input data into a computer and touch screen.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to use hands to finger, grip, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to talk and hear.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Starts machine and observes operation to ensure machine is operating properly.
• Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.
• Makes minor adjustments or repairs such as opening valves, changing cutting dies, setting guides, or clearing away damaged product containers.
• Inspects filled packs to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
• Feeds product to conveyors.
• Mounts supplies such as film on spindles.
• Thoroughly clean entire machine and set it up for the next shop.
• Disassemble and reassemble machine to sanitize properly, per company procedures.
