About The Position

The Sanitation Laborer (Sanitor) cleans assigned plant areas and equipment using dry pickup, hot water, chemicals, and cleaning tools. The role requires following safe procedures for each task and chemical, including SSI lock-out procedures before cleaning equipment. The Sanitor reports equipment damage or other issues to a supervisor, participates in chemical training, and complies with SSI and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and policies. Other duties may be assigned. The position involves working in and around equipment, including in cooler conditions and in cold or hot wet environments. It also requires regular standing and walking, lifting up to 50 pounds at times, and moving in, around, and under equipment. A high school diploma is preferred.

Requirements

Ability to work in and around equipment.
Basic reading ability to understand risks described on Safety Data Sheets (SDS) or chemical labels.
Regular periods of standing and walking in a cooler environment (35 to 45 degrees F).
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Ability to work in a cold and hot wet environment.
Ability to move in, around, and under equipment.

Responsibilities

Follow safe procedures for each chemical and task.
Lock out equipment according to SSI Lock-out procedures before beginning equipment cleaning.

Participate in chemical training and strictly follow guidelines, rules, and regulations for specific chemicals.
Comply with SSI and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
