About The Position

This role is responsible for manufacturing consumer foods in compliance with all food safety, quality, regulatory, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements. The position involves operating, maintaining, cleaning, changing over, and sanitizing production equipment, as well as inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment. The role also includes executing and improving preventive maintenance activities, learning and applying predictive and condition-based maintenance tools, and collecting, interpreting, documenting, and communicating equipment-condition data. The individual will develop and improve condition-monitoring routes, preventive maintenance tasks, and equipment-health plans. Responsibilities also include receiving turnover from the previous shift, reviewing daily planning and scheduling, participating in Daily Direction Setting, conducting line health checks, completing toolbox checks, communicating technical callouts, reviewing weekly top losses, updating technical countermeasures, and updating the monthly team scorecard. The role requires using continuous-improvement tools, owning technical systems, coaching team members, and traveling for training and maintenance activities. Additionally, the position involves creating and maintaining SOPs, job aids, and technical documentation, as well as maintaining and expanding technical expertise in advanced E&I technologies. The role requires the ability to work independently and in a team, a proven track record of good attendance, safety, quality, and performance, and flexibility to work a 12-hour shift and overtime.

  • Must be Level 6 or higher to apply.
  • Documentation of previous electrical training and demonstration of electrical, instrumentation, or PLC skills is desired.
  • Must demonstrate the willingness and aptitude to learn preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance tools and technologies.
  • Must be willing to work overtime on all shifts and teams.
  • Less than 16 points over the last 12-month period, as defined in the Plant Selection Process.
  • Willful unsafe acts could eliminate a candidate from consideration for this role.
  • No written disciplinary action in the last 12 months, including attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for manufacturing consumer foods in compliance with all food safety, quality, regulatory, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.
  • Support company and site safety policies, perform work safely, recognize unsafe working conditions, coach peers, and suggest improved safety standards.
  • Operate, maintain, clean, change over, and sanitize production equipment while following and improving documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, automation equipment, and related software.
  • Execute and improve preventive maintenance activities, including lubrication, inspections, maintenance work plans, and timely creation and completion of work orders.
  • Learn and apply predictive and condition-based maintenance tools, including vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasound, and other emerging reliability technologies.
  • Collect, interpret, document, and communicate equipment-condition data to identify degradation, prioritize corrective work, prevent failures, improve asset health, and reduce reactive maintenance.
  • Develop and improve condition-monitoring routes, preventive maintenance tasks, asset-care standards, and equipment-health plans.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operation and troubleshooting of Power Distribution, Studio 5000 or Logix 5000 platform hardware and software, Drives and Motion Control, FactoryTalk ME and SE, Ethernet/IP Control Network, and Food Manufacturing and Utility Instrumentation.
  • Maintain and properly operate electrical testing equipment.
  • Utilize drawings, prints, schematics, and instruction manuals to determine the proper steps for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Adhere to company drawing and documentation standards.
  • Receive turnover from the previous shift, including emails, downtime events, equipment outages, open defects, centerline concerns, and ongoing technical-support needs.
  • Review daily planning and scheduling, work orders, while-down work, CIL activities, preventive maintenance, and mechanical or electrical follow-ups.
  • Participate in Daily Direction Setting and review prior-shift downtime outages and the top sources of downtime first-hand to validate conditions and plan support for the current shift.
  • Conduct line health checks during the first and second half of the shift, verifying tools and shadow boards, identifying defects, checking visual controls and centerlines, correcting issues when possible, and documenting follow-ups for the oncoming shift.
  • Complete toolbox checks in Proficy and prepare reliability grams or other technical communications as needed.
  • Communicate technical callouts to the Team Leader and facilitate an effective shift pass-down covering defects, top downtime events, centerlines, and ongoing issues.
  • Review weekly top losses with Team Leaders, Area Leaders, Plant Engineering, Equipment Owners, or other appropriate partners and drive issues to root cause.
  • Review and update 90-day-plan technical countermeasures and assist PM/AM Coordinators with developing the next week’s work plan.
  • Update the technical portion of the monthly team scorecard with appropriate support and communicate results to the team.
  • Complete monthly audits of the Technical Document Library using the applicable Tech Doc Audit DMS guidance.
  • Use continuous-improvement tools, including breakdown elimination and root cause analysis, to eliminate losses and document, communicate, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Own one or more technical, safety, quality, or reliability systems and lead projects that improve safety, quality, equipment reliability, and production results.
  • Coach team members on electrical, instrumentation, controls, machine functionality, defect identification and resolution, equipment repair, failure prevention, and predictive-maintenance concepts.
  • Travel and actively participate in training, qualification programs, assessments, vendor visits, and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, job aids, preventive maintenance improvements, work instructions, technical documentation, and training materials.
  • Maintain and expand technical expertise in industrial networks, servers, FactoryTalk applications, motion controls, predictive-maintenance tools, and other advanced E&I technologies.
  • Obtain and maintain Maintenance Low Voltage Qualification within twelve months of the start date.
  • Utilize computers, Microsoft Office applications, and online training resources to maintain accurate records, analyze data, communicate findings, and complete required training.
  • Maintain an accurate electronic database of repair and maintenance activities, including parts usage, findings, follow-up actions, and time tracking.
  • Work independently and in a team environment, helping solve problems, and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Maintain a proven track record of good attendance and consistent safety, quality, and performance.
  • Work overtime for down-day activities, outages, and coverage on other teams.
