About The Position

This position involves abrading surfaces of metal castings to remove adhering scale, shell, and dirt, and to achieve a specified finish. The role requires operating sandblasting equipment and ensuring parts conform to specifications.

Requirements

• Minimum experience required 0-3 years
• Ability to understand basic English
• Be able to follow basic instruction and work direction
• Requires basic math skills
• Requires basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

• High School diploma preferred not required

Responsibilities

• Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper
• Loads parts into cabinets
• Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel
• Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts
• Directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval
• Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications
• Check sandblast cabinets after each break & end of shift, and check the blast nozzle for wear
• Check appearance of the Aluminum Oxide blast media, dispose of media that appears “powdery”, replenish cabinet with new blast media
