Sandblasting strips a surface of dirt, rust, old paint, and grease, and prepares it for refinishing and repair. This job relies on manual labor and is physically demanding. A sandblaster’s work environment is often dusty and loud, and the sandblaster is frequently exposed to potentially dangerous situations, and toxic chemicals. Safety equipment, consisting of a hard hat, safety-toe work boots, and hearing protection, are worn to reduce the risk of getting hurt on the job. Also assists the Paint WC Lead in all aspects of industrial painting (mostly paint prep).
