About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that sample materials are stocked and the area is clean and organized. This position also helps with shipping sample orders and uses the table saw to cut shingles, staplers, and drills. The core duties include ensuring that the samples department is sending out quality products each and every day, keeping the area stocked, cleaned, and organized, and helping with shipping product while ensuring the correct products are shipped. The role involves reading production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. It also includes conveying materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas, sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a predetermined sequence, and assembling customer orders from stock. The position also requires marking materials with identifying information, opening bales, crates, and other containers, recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed, using a computer to enter records, preparing parcels for mailing, and maintaining inventory records. The primary accountability is the quality control of samples being sent out.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.
