About The Position

This position involves collecting hourly samples from three systems, including fat, feather, and blood samples. The role requires repetitive climbing, extensive walking throughout the plant, and strong communication, computer, and penmanship skills. It demands upper body and arm strength for climbing vertical ladders and pulling oneself up, and comfort with heights. The Sample Runner will also assist in other plant areas between sample collections. Responsibilities include reading and following Standard Work Instructions (SWI) and Training Within Industry (TWI) using Lean principles, working safely according to Simmons policies, and operating equipment to maintain production speeds and quality. The role also involves keeping the department clean, completing all required forms, and performing duties with minimal supervision. The individual must be able to identify hazards and take precautions, participate as a team member, and foster team cohesiveness. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems and their role in supporting these systems is expected, including understanding the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns or improvement ideas.   • Ability to walk and stand on feet for more than 10 hours per shift.

  • Requires occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have Hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, and H2S monitor and full face respirator.
