About The Position

The Sample Receiving Technician logs and tracks samples received by and shipped from the laboratory, verifies sample receipts, and supports accurate and timely sample documentation, labeling, storage, and routing. The role also prepares bottle kits for clients, determines sample priorities and testing procedures based on Chain of Custody documentation, and follows established procedures and applicable EPA and DOT requirements. The technician may perform sample pickups and deliveries, courier and customer-service duties, and other work needed to support laboratory and client operations. The position is full-time and based in Middleborough, Massachusetts. The stated pay rate is $19 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid state-issued driver’s license for operating company vehicles.
Ability to pass a motor vehicle background check required for company driver certification.
Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
Knowledge of office practices and equipment, computers, word processing and database software, laboratory and testing procedures, general mathematics, and computerized shipping systems.
Basic composition, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and oral and written communication skills.
Ability to organize work and pay attention to detail.
Ability to use personal protective equipment and basic office equipment.
May be required to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card and TSA clearance within 90 days of hire.
Additional client- or location-specific licenses or certifications may be required.
Ability and willingness to drive for extended periods, up to eight hours per day.
Willingness to be on-call during non-business hours for non-routine sampling and delivery.

Responsibilities

Receive and unload incoming samples or consignments in accordance with DOT regulations; verify them against Chain of Custody documentation, match them to quotes, and note discrepancies.
Review Chain of Custody forms for accuracy and completeness and seek resolution for issues.
Enter samples into the Lab Management System, assign tracking lot numbers, and distribute paperwork to Project Managers.
Label samples and deliver them to the appropriate laboratories for analysis.
Prepare bottle kits for shipment to clients in accordance with established procedures, including EPA and DOT requirements.
Forward samples to other laboratories when testing is not performed at the local facility.
Dispose of spent samples, waste, and potentially hazardous materials according to established procedures.
Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures daily against SOP guidelines.
Clean and organize the department and maintain a safe work environment.
Promote safety and conduct operations in an environmentally compliant manner.
Stock supplies and assist with inventory management.
Perform sample splits and composites when requested.
Perform courier duties, sample pickups, and deliveries as needed; comply with driver procedures, certification requirements, and company driver policies.
Be available on-call outside business hours for non-routine sampling and delivery.
Assist with maintaining walk-in coolers and locating samples.
Ship empty coolers back to clients and other Eurofins laboratories, and log outgoing coolers for inventory tracking.
Maintain company vehicles used for sample pickups and deliveries.
Interact with clients appropriately and professionally.
Perform other duties assigned by local management.
