About The Position

Within ALS's Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician (P2) works with client samples and prepares them for analysis in the laboratories. The role includes sample-processing and laboratory-cleanliness tasks under supervision, maintaining production logs, and following established safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies.

Requirements

• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic alphanumeric comprehension.
• Basic English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment.
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sometimes continuously. If lifting exceeds 50 lbs, assistance from another employee or lift-assist equipment is mandatory.
• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, including periodic sedentary responsibilities.
• Must be cleanly shaven in order to wear protective equipment.
• Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the country of application, or hold or be able to obtain a valid working visa.

Responsibilities

• Ring, sieve (including International Soils), crush, and split samples under direct supervision.
• Load and unload drying ovens under supervision.
• Maintain personal production logs.
• Perform general cleaning duties to maintain basic laboratory cleanliness.
• Assist with layout duties and tasks.
• Handle compositing, screen metallics, and special handling requests.
• Inspect equipment and inform a senior employee if adjustment is required.
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
