About The Position

Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician (P2) works with client samples and prepares them for analysis in ALS laboratories. The role involves sample processing under supervision, maintaining production records, supporting laboratory cleanliness and layout tasks, handling special sample requests, inspecting equipment, and following established quality and safety practices.

Requirements

• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic alphanumeric comprehension.
• Basic English communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment.
• Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, sometimes continuously; lifting above 50 pounds may occur occasionally and requires assistance from another employee or lift-assist equipment.
• Ability to sit at a desk and perform general office work, including periodic sedentary responsibilities.
• Must be cleanly shaven in order to wear protective equipment.
• Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the country of application, or hold or be able to obtain a valid working visa.

Responsibilities

• Ring, sieve (including International Soils), crush, and split samples under direct supervision.
• Load and unload drying ovens under supervision.
• Maintain personal production logs.
• Perform general cleaning duties to maintain basic laboratory cleanliness.
• Assist with layout duties or tasks as needed.
• Handle compositing, screen metallics, special handling requests, and related tasks.
• Inspect equipment and inform a senior employee when adjustments are required.
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
