About The Position

SPL is hiring a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician for its environmental testing lab in Reading, Pennsylvania. The role handles the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. The technician logs samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and oversees their storage and distribution, helping ensure accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous work experience in sample handling or laboratory support roles within high-volume, fast-paced operational environments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a science-related discipline preferred.
• LIMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff.
• Verify that samples meet condition standards and comply with organizational policies, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
• Accurately record sample information, details, and required analyses in the laboratory software system.
• Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee sample placement, retrieval, and disposal in accordance with established protocols.
• Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required.
• Assist colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management, supply preparation, and general support activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in alignment with company standards and safety requirements.
• Complete assigned tasks within established timelines while upholding accuracy, quality, and procedural standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position and training provided.
