The Sample Inventory and Logistics Associate is responsible for all packages coming into and leaving the B2S Life Sciences workplace. This includes packaging and labeling of all outgoing packages, and unpacking and checking in of all incoming packages. The role requires reliable on-site presence during standard business hours (0830 to 1630) and effective communication regarding any unavailability. Key responsibilities include entering received materials into an inventory management system, tracking valuable information such as expiration dates, pulling and preparing samples for internal or external distribution, and loading packing slips and safety data sheets into appropriate systems. The associate will also aliquot materials for use or storage, maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation, and work with departments to reconcile deliveries. This role involves unpacking, examining, and verifying shipments against manifests, ensuring compliance with SOPs for labeling, and managing temporary storage of shipments, including hazardous goods. Damaged items will be rejected, shortages recorded, and discrepancies communicated with the Purchasing Group. Defective materials or questionable conditions are to be reported to the Department Supervisor. The associate will maintain an adequate supply of shipping materials and order them as needed. Preparation of outgoing shipments, including programming dataloggers, and providing quality control for shipment activities are also key duties. The role requires performing all computer functions using internal and external software for shipping and tracking, collecting and organizing mailings, and completing final inspections per shipping instructions and SOPs. Updating and maintaining logistics policies and procedures, and ensuring the work area and equipment are clean, orderly, and safe are essential. The associate will provide accurate and timely information and communication with departments, and maintain a working understanding of export, import, and domestic & foreign customs regulations, including IDOT and IATA. Equipment maintenance, including printers, label makers, temperature-controlled cabinets, and shipping scales, is also part of the role. Other duties as assigned.
