About The Position

The Salesperson sells new and/or used vehicles at the dealership. Focus on gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction standards is a must. Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must have the ability to sit for long hours while working from a desktop computer, phone system, and various dealership specific software.
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time while assisting customers and walking the lot.
  • Must have ample dexterity to bend, reach, stretch, sit, stand, type, and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Report.

Responsibilities

  • Satisfies the transportation needs of new and/or used vehicle purchasers.
  • Approaches, greets, and offers assistance or direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom or sales lot.
  • Assists customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions utilizing the 10 Steps to the Road to the Sales and listening carefully to their responses.
  • Suggests alternative vehicles if necessary.
  • Understands the terminology of the automobile business and keeps abreast of changes in product technology, incoming inventory, features, accessories etc.
  • Provides thorough product information and demonstration to all prospects.
  • Offers test drives to all prospects.
  • Follows dealership procedure to obtain proper identification from customer before test drive begins.
  • Exhibits a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Utilizes dealership sales control and follow-up system.
  • Knows and understands the federal, state and local laws which govern retail auto sales.
  • Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
  • Knows and understands equity and values and is able to explain depreciation to the customer.
  • Ensures that the sales manager has an opportunity to meet each customer.
  • Prepare closed deals for finance and insurance manager and presents properly completed paperwork (i.e., insurance information, trade title, collect bank stipulations, etc.).
  • Prepares sold vehicles for customer delivery (i.e., cleans vehicles, fills gas tank and ensures all features are operational) prior to customer arrival.
  • Delivers vehicles to customers, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty, apps, and paperwork.
  • Introduces customers to service department personnel to emphasize to them the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership's service department.
  • Assists in scheduling first service appointment.
  • Follows up on all post-delivery items, tag/title work, “we-owes,” and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met.
  • Maintains an prospect and owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure vehicles and other property are locked and/or secured at all times, as well as completing additional opening and closing tasks.
  • Attends sales meetings.
  • Handles leads and follows OEM and SOAG processes and policies.
  • Acknowledges new and updated policies and practices.
  • Helps to keep the dealership neat and clean, moving vehicles when necessary.
  • Maintains a professional business appearance.
  • Must complete OEM and company training each month, earning manufacturer certifications.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
