About The Position

The State of Tennessee is seeking an experienced Salesforce Platform Developer II to serve as a senior technical resource and trusted advisor for Salesforce development initiatives across the state. The role will provide technical guidance on coding standards, scalable solution architecture, development best practices, security, integrations, and Salesforce platform governance. The position will support 11 statewide Salesforce organizations utilizing Public Sector Solutions, Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, and Sales Cloud. The successful candidate will work closely with agency development teams, vendor partners, and Salesforce organization owners to deliver secure, scalable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions supporting critical services for Tennessee residents.

  • Ability to provide technical guidance and evaluate development work across multiple Salesforce organizations and teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills for complex technical issues.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies, CI/CD, version control, and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with agency teams, internal stakeholders, and vendor development teams.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional Salesforce development experience.
  • Salesforce Platform Developer II certification is required or must be obtained within the established timeframe.

  • Experience working in public-sector or multi-org Salesforce environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical guidance and oversight to Salesforce development teams across state agencies and departments.
  • Review and advise on Apex classes, triggers, Lightning Web Components (LWC), integrations, and Salesforce APIs.
  • Translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, high-performing, and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Ensure custom Salesforce development follows STS coding standards, governance requirements, architectural direction, and security standards.
  • Support development across multiple Salesforce organizations with different architectures, configurations, and business processes.
  • Serve as the lead technical resource for complex enhancements and custom development initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate vendor-developed solutions for quality, technical accuracy, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Participate in release planning, code reviews, testing coordination, and deployment activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues involving debugging, system performance, integrations, and Salesforce platform limitations.
  • Document technical designs, solution recommendations, coding standards, and development patterns.
  • Stay current with Salesforce platform capabilities, product releases, and industry best practices.
