About The Position

The salesclerk is responsible for daily deposit and cash balances and accounting support, as well as providing maximum service to members and patrons. This role involves operating a scale, entering and filing sales tickets, probing grain trucks, and assisting with various accounting tasks. The position also requires excellent customer service skills, maintaining safety awareness, and promoting employee cohesiveness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent computer operation skills.
  • Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job related education requirements or opportunities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Able to deal with problems with several concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Must be able to think quickly and perform a mental assessment of workplace hazards, take appropriate precautions, and choose appropriate PPE as dictated by need, regulation, and labeling.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell; stand; walk; sit and climb or balance.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Employees must understand and implement all related safety policies, procedures and programs for prevention and protection while performing job duties in various work environments.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow company employee policies.
  • Provide accounting administration support by balancing daily deposits and cash box.
  • Operate scale; enter and file sales tickets as necessary.
  • Probe grain trucks.
  • Assist with maintaining accounts receivable, records of prepaid activity, accounts paid tickets, company COD customer listing, and daily fuel sales.
  • Reconcile report discrepancies and problems.
  • Be able to use a fax machine, copier, etc.
  • Customer service by answering telephone in a professional manner.
  • Wait on customers at the counter – loading up to 50 pound bags.
  • Promote company and branch location employee cohesiveness through effective communication, teamwork and shared services.
  • Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responding promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meeting commitments.
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management.
  • Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Help with inventory count and ordering.
  • Present a clean and professional appearance.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
