About The Position

The Sales Trainee prepares for a future role as an Account Representative or Customer Service Representative. The trainee shadows account representatives and customer service representatives to gain experience in sales, company product lines, and the customer base. The trainee also works in the branch warehouse to learn shipping and receiving, inventory, and delivery functions, and participates in online and satellite classes conducted by the company's Training Department. Training includes product, sales, and leadership topics. The role provides training across multiple branch functions and requires participation in company-sponsored training, developing presentation skills, and performing other assigned duties. The position has no supervisory or budget responsibility. Occasional travel may be required.

Requirements

Typically requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in Industrial Distribution or a related field.
Achievement oriented and self-motivated.
Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
Strong analytical skills.
Able to follow through on tasks.
Moderate computer skills, including communicating internally and externally via email.
Customer service oriented.
Ability to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

Participate in and succeed in company-sponsored training classes.
Develop competent presentation skills.
Train in all levels of a branch, including inside sales/customer service, outside sales/account representation, inventory, delivery, warehouse, and administrative functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Shadow account representatives and customer service representatives to learn sales, products, and the customer base.
Work in the branch warehouse to become familiar with shipping and receiving, inventory, and delivery functions.
Participate in online and satellite training classes covering products, sales, and leadership.
