About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and commercially driven professional to join our Houston office and help clients navigate the increasingly complex world of environmental commodities. As a Sales Trader – Carbon Compliance, you will combine market expertise, relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of compliance carbon markets to help shape the future of emissions trading. You will focus on regulatory carbon programs across North America while supporting clients in identifying opportunities, managing risks, and achieving their sustainability objectives.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English; another language is a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the United States of America.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, economics, finance, business administration or related discipline.
  • 2–5 years of experience in carbon markets, environmental commodities, energy markets, emissions trading, sales trading, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of North American carbon compliance programs.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to connect regulatory developments to commercial opportunities.
  • Willing to relocate to Houston, Texas.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with environmental commodity trading is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Originate, structure, and execute transactions within regulated carbon markets across North America.
  • Grow carbon trading activities by building long-term client relationships, identifying market opportunities, and developing new business channels.
  • Monitor evolving regulatory programs and analyze market fundamentals.
  • Help clients navigate compliance obligations and trading strategies.
  • Take ownership of the complete trading process from market analysis and client engagement to deal execution and post-trade management.
  • Collaborate closely with risk, legal, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Identify new products and services to drive commercial growth and strengthen the company's position.
  • Conduct cold calling and prospecting of new market participants.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Monitor carbon market regulations, policy developments, and pricing trends.
  • Identify and execute carbon compliance trading opportunities.
  • Communicate daily with trading, risk, operations, and management teams.
  • Engage with counterparties to understand market needs and commercial objectives.
  • Transform market intelligence into actionable trading opportunities.
  • Conduct market research across carbon and environmental commodity markets.
  • Contribute to business development and growth initiatives.
  • Assist with post-trade logistics and transaction management.
  • Support product development efforts based on regulatory and market developments.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and stakeholder events.
