About The Position

As a Sales Support Specialist, you will support Caterpillar Resource Industries Sales, Services, and Technologies (RISST) Electrification commercial group by performing simulation and analysis to generate recommendations that contribute to both the short-term and long-term customer decarbonization initiatives. You can be a part of that journey with us by providing world-class support of innovative solutions such as Cat® Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET) and zero exhaust mining equipment. Cat® Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET) is a fully Caterpillar-developed system that can transfer energy to both diesel-electric and battery-electric large mining trucks while they are working around a mine site. It can also charge a machine’s batteries while operating with increased speed on grade, improving operational efficiency and machine uptime.

Requirements

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the mining industry and equipment.
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Experience with Fleet / Machine Performance tools.
  • Experience with cost modeling tools.
  • Experience in Electrification fields.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with the customers, product groups, districts, and dealers in developing decarbonization pathways and recommending solutions designed to maximize product value and price.
  • Perform site simulation to determine site-level power requirements.
  • Leverage modeling tools to help customers make site-level infrastructure decisions.
  • Perform site-level total cost of ownership (TCO) estimations to optimize electrified machines and infrastructure vs. current technologies.
  • Support electrification New Technology Introduction and New Product Introductions programs with VOC collection, functional requirements, cost targets, and commercial strategies.
  • Working with internal partners to understand advancements in decarbonization technologies and their effect on Caterpillar and customer economics.
  • Consultancy will include product and application knowledge, end-user critical requirements, competitive analysis, market needs, and growth opportunities.
