About The Position

As a Sales Specialist at Lowe’s, you help customers identify the products they need and turn project ideas into reality. You spend much of your time communicating with customers, discussing project needs, answering questions, and helping them accomplish home improvement goals. You become knowledgeable about product specifications, features, promotions, and financing options, and provide consulting services to help meet customer needs. Depending on hiring needs and skillsets, the position may be assigned to Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Millwork, Fashion Plumbing, Outlet, Tool Rental, Pro, or Windows & Walls. The role is active and involves moving throughout the store or garden center, answering phones, and interacting with customers. It does not require regular travel, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed. Work may involve indoor and outdoor weather conditions, varying climates, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Associates must follow lifting guidelines, use powered equipment as required, and have proper training or assistance. Lowe’s states that pay is $19.00–$20.55 per hour; starting pay may vary based on position, location, education, training, and experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of customer-facing sales experience or 6 months of Lowe’s retail experience. If the education requirement is not met, at least 3 years of external customer-facing sales experience or 18 months of Lowe’s retail experience is required.
At least 1 year of sales or customer service experience in a sales environment with required sales goals or metrics.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or lift more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Obtain sales-related licensure or registration if required by state law; Lowe’s will support and fund this requirement.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience completing customer sales orders.
At least 1 year of experience promoting product-related services and plans, such as installation, delivery, credit financing, or extended protection plans.
At least 2 years of experience designing customized products for customers using 20/20 or a Computer-Aided Design System.
Professional certification related to the department being considered.
Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

Seek out customers, understand their needs, answer questions, and explain the advantages of Lowe’s products and services using SMART customer service.
Serve as a point of contact for customers and vendors in the department.
Provide project estimates, schedule installer visits, process and track customer orders and installations, and follow up to ensure projects are completed.
In the Pro Department, focus on external accounts and outside sales and services.
Monitor inventory levels, working with vendors and other stores to locate merchandise and order replacement stock.
Review prices according to pricing policies and maintain pricing and documentation.
Support checkout functions, call buttons, departmental pages, and requests for assistance.
Train department associates on the sales floor and coach them on development needs.
Complete other duties as assigned.
