About The Position

Goodwill of North Georgia is hiring a Sales & Service team member for its Rome Store. The role supports the organization’s mission of helping local job seekers find meaningful work. The employee examines and grades donated goods for sale in Goodwill retail stores, processes goods at an accelerated pace to meet production goals, and follows standard operating procedures. The position also contributes to a guest-friendly retail experience through customer service, sales-floor merchandising, and point-of-sale transactions.

Requirements

Must be 18 or older to become certified and licensed to operate a forklift; individuals aged 16 to 17 may not operate forklifts, balers, or compactors.
Good oral and written communication skills in English and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and sound judgment.
Basic math skills.
Must start employment wearing acceptable safety work shoes.
Ability to work in heat, cold, and dust.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including bending, reaching, grasping, standing or walking for extended periods, and pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 30 pounds, with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

Examine and grade donated goods for sale in Goodwill of North Georgia retail stores.
Process goods quickly to meet production goals while adhering to standard operating procedures.
Greet every guest, deliver a positive brand experience, and suggest additional merchandise.
Maintain a professional, patient, and people-first attitude with guests.
Move products to the retail sales floor with attention to detail and urgency.
Execute and maintain visual merchandising strategies.
Recommend or upsell merchandise and encourage round-ups during transactions.
Accurately handle point-of-sale transactions.
Identify and resolve problems promptly or seek management support.
Communicate effectively with management, peers, and guests.
Promote cooperation and teamwork with peers.
Perform tasks according to training playbooks, e-learning, and work instructions.
Keep the work area and retail sales floor neat, clean, and organized.
Follow safety and security practices, including reporting hazards and injuries to management.
Attend and complete required trainings and meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
