About The Position

Civic Hotel, Autograph Collection, is a bold, independent boutique hotel in the heart of Surrey City Centre, steps from Surrey Central SkyTrain. Reporting to the General Manager, the Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by generating sales, building relationships, and enhancing the hotel's market presence. They work to identify new business opportunities, cultivate long-term relationships with corporate clients, travel agencies, event planners, and other potential business sources. The Sales Manager plays a key role in formulating and executing sales strategies, promoting hotel services, and achieving revenue targets across designated segments such as group bookings, corporate contracts, leisure, and events. Works alongside and collaborates with the corporate and government-focused sales manager.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years’ of sales experience in a premium hotel or similar environment.
  • Strong Sales and Negotiation Skills: Ability to identify opportunities, close deals, and manage client relationships.
  • Excellent Communication: Clear, persuasive communication skills including written, verbal and non-verbal.
  • Customer Service Focus: A strong orientation toward customer satisfaction and problem-solving.
  • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the hospitality industry, trends, and competitors.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines.
  • Access to a personal vehicle is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Tourism or Hotel Management an asset.
  • Advanced Computer Skills: Experience with Google Workspace and sales & event management systems is beneficial (Marriott International’s CI-TY preferred)
  • Travel: Ability to travel locally, nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies and plans to achieve revenue goals.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, while maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing clients.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to position the hotel effectively in the marketplace.
  • Manage and develop revenues from social groups, tour groups, weddings, SMERF markets, and sports teams.
  • Negotiate contracts with corporate clients, travel agents, and event planners to maximize profitability.
  • Oversee event and meeting space sales, collaborating with the operations team to ensure successful events.
  • Work closely with the operations leaders to ensure client’s requirements and expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to align sales campaigns with promotions and branding.
  • Manage key accounts and ensure high levels of client satisfaction to encourage repeat business.
  • Track sales performance, forecast future business, and prepare regular reports for management.
  • Collaborate with General Manager to develop annual revenue budget.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to build connections and generate leads.
  • Other duties as required.
