About The Position

Schillings is seeking a motivated and experienced Sales Manager to lead and develop our sales teams in Mokena, IL. This position may oversee retail sales, contractor sales, or a combination of both depending on the candidate's background and strengths. We are looking for a driven leader who understands customer service, sales growth, relationship building, team development, and the building materials industry. This role requires strong communication skills, leadership ability, problem-solving, and the confidence to manage customer issues, sales strategy, and daily operations independently.

Requirements

  • Previous sales leadership or management experience preferred
  • Experience in building materials, lumber, construction, home improvement, flooring, windows, doors, decking, or related industries strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of customer service, estimating, margins, and sales operations
  • Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners, contractors, builders, and employees
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and customer needs in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer proficiency and willingness to learn company systems
  • Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop sales staff across multiple sales departments
  • Oversee daily sales operations including customer service, estimating, special orders, and sales follow-up
  • Manage and maintain showroom appearance, product displays, samples, and merchandising
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with homeowners, contractors, builders, remodelers, and vendors
  • Develop new business opportunities and strengthen existing customer relationships
  • Work directly with customers to resolve complaints, delivery concerns, product issues, and jobsite challenges
  • Review bids, margins, pricing, and special-order accuracy
  • Understand blueprint takeoffs, material estimating, and product recommendations
  • Monitor sales performance, market trends, and competitive pricing
  • Participate in builder meetings, networking events, jobsite visits, and customer appointments as needed
  • Coordinate employee scheduling, training, coaching, and performance reviews
  • Work closely with purchasing, operations, and accounting departments to ensure customer satisfaction and profitable sales growth
