About The Position

Sunward Steel Buildings, a family-owned and American-made company for over 50 years, designs, engineers, and manufactures custom steel buildings. We partner with customers to understand their vision and engineer tailored solutions. This Sales Manager role is a player/coach position, requiring the individual to manage their own book of business while also leading, developing, and holding accountable a team of 3-4 Sales Consultants. Approximately half of the time will be dedicated to personal sales production, and the other half to team development. The role is based in Denver, CO, and is a full-time, in-office position.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven inside sales experience
  • At least 1 year in a team lead, senior, or management capacity
  • A genuine track record of hitting or exceeding personal sales targets
  • Strong leadership instincts - you can hold people accountable and keep them motivated at the same time
  • Confident communicator on the phone, in writing, and in escalated customer situations
  • CRM proficiency and comfort with sales reporting and performance dashboards
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction, building products, PEMB, or manufacturing sales
  • Familiarity with consultative sales methodologies
  • Experience coaching from data rather than instinct alone

Responsibilities

  • Carry your own active pipeline of inbound and outbound leads, with a focus on large or complex projects - from first contact through signed contract
  • Lead, coach, and hold accountable a team of 3-4 Sales Consultants through structured one-on-ones, pipeline reviews, and deal coaching sessions
  • Set performance expectations for the team and take corrective action when KPIs trend in the wrong direction
  • Run deal reviews and coaching sessions that sharpen your team’s skills and move opportunities forward with urgency
  • Develop and execute sales strategies and action plans aligned with monthly and annual revenue targets - for your book and your team’s portfolio
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, modeling the consultative approach and professionalism you expect from your team
  • Monitor team and individual KPIs and generate regular performance reports and pipeline forecasts for senior leadership
  • Champion disciplined CRM use across the team - pipeline hygiene and activity tracking are non-negotiable
