About The Position

Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC, is a world-leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.'s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second. We are currently seeking a Sales Manager – Power & Advanced Products to join our growing team.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and CRM systems.
  • BS in Business or Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • College graduate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, primarily in industrial, technical marketing, and product development (commercialization).
  • Relevant experience working with technical customers, forecasting, product commercialization, and strategic business development.
  • Computer and data analysis skills, including CRM interaction and data entry.
  • Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined under 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 and 15 C.F.R. § 772.1.

Responsibilities

  • Become a member of the Metglas Sales team with a North America focus.
  • Be responsible for forecast accuracy and CRM data entry.
  • Work with customers on a global scale and interface with production and sales teams in Japan and the USA.
  • Develop and drive business strategy for Metglas products, including ownership of target market prioritization and new product launches.
  • Develop and drive strategies for existing products and markets.
  • Take ownership of the strategic planning process for the Metglas business to optimize target markets and maximize business profitability.
  • Develop and monitor global pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Conduct market research and competitive market analysis, including monitoring and communicating competitive activity and providing two-way feedback to the Japan product team.
  • Research and report on the ability of Metglas products to fulfill customer needs compared to competing products.
  • Develop key actions and marketing materials to support market growth objectives, product promotion, and industry competitiveness.
  • Budget for and drive participation in trade shows, press releases, and other promotional activities.
  • Tie global forecasting from the factory to individual leads at global sales offices.
  • Work closely with customer contacts to support robust forecasting and production planning.
  • Manage sales responsibilities for direct customers with the objective of growing share in high-growth accounts and ensuring the ability to supply.
  • Develop commercial relationships and account-level pricing strategies.
  • Work closely with R&D, Quality, and Operations teams on comparative data, new product launches, technology development, IP management, and responsiveness to customer inquiries.
  • Own new product launches and maintain high-level involvement with specification, design, development, and government programs.
  • Partner with the Finemet Business Development team of Hitachi Metals to support combination opportunities between Metglas and Finemet.
  • Participate as an integral member and leader of cross-functional teams while coordinating communication with the Japan sister facility.
  • Become familiar with USA and Canada utilities KBF and assist market conversion to Metglas products where possible.
  • Continuously monitor technology developments in the industry and implement applicable cost-effective innovations.
  • Create and maintain a global repository of competitive information within the CRM system.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required (approximately 33–50%).
