About The Position

Reporting to the Sales Representative, the Sales Intern will be a key member of the HarperCollins Canada Sales team. Our team is responsible for the sales, distribution and promotion of all HarperCollins titles in Canada. In this role, there will be a focus on Sales responsibilities, but you will have the opportunity to interact with all stages of the publishing process and establish relationships in each department. You will be mentored by a senior member of our Sales team and have the opportunity for one-on-one meetings with employees across the organization. Your responsibilities will include contributing to sales presentations and attending cross-department meetings that give you an understanding of how all departments at a publishing house work together to make a book successful.

Requirements

  • Completion of university or college education, or possess equivalent/relevant work experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with fellow employees
  • Self-starter with capacity to work independently
  • Applicants must be eligible to work and be paid in Canada
  • Familiarity with digital platforms, including social media
  • Comfort with standard PC software (Adobe, OneDrive, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Retail and/or selling experience an asset
  • Ability to adopt new software and technologies quickly an asset
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint in particular an asset

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and distribute catalogues and order forms for accounts and Sales Reps
  • Present titles for sell-in to accounts in multiple channels. This includes but is not limited to in-person appointments, Microsoft Teams appointments and phone appointments
  • Perform research and sales analysis, including merchandising tasks (reports, audits)
  • Assist with our Seasonal Sales Conference through assisting with setup, presenting titles, and creating PowerPoint presentations for the Line Managers.
  • Place orders for accounts, authors, and events.
  • Complete book mailings for Sales Reps and Directors.
  • Assist with account outreach efforts through both online research and in-person store visits.
  • Perform various tasks relating to our participation at the CGTA Gift & Home Market including set-up/tear down at the venue as well as in-person during the show.
