Gain hands-on sales, customer service, and business development experience through daily customer interactions, sales activities, and job assignments. The Sales Intern will support sales operations while developing an understanding of customer relationship management, product knowledge, retail sales processes, and cross-functional collaboration. Work is performed under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Prefer GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Prefer junior or senior level, but will consider other class levels.
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Interest in sales, customer service, marketing, and business development
  • Ability to build positive relationships with customers and team members
  • Strong customer-focused mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people
  • Comfortable talking with and interacting with customers, vendors, and colleagues

  • Ability to learn product knowledge, sales processes, and business systems quickly

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service primarily to retail customers via walk-in, telephone, or email interactions, assisting with product selection, pricing, availability, and refund/exchange inquiries while developing a strong understanding of company products, procedures, and practices.
  • Actively supports sales efforts by promoting company products, services, and related solutions to customers.
  • Assists with preparing material estimates and quotes for small packages such as stairs, decks, fences, sheds, and other project-related products.
  • Enters customer orders into company systems and assists in coordinating product delivery schedules to support a positive customer experience.
  • Develops time management and organizational skills by planning and prioritizing work to meet daily, weekly, and team productivity goals.
  • Participates in customer workshops, product demonstrations, and community outreach activities to build customer engagement and sales awareness.
  • Handles and resolves routine customer concerns while escalating more complex issues to experienced team members when appropriate.
  • Supports store operations through housekeeping, signage, merchandising, stocking, inventory control, and other business activities.
  • May perform duties such as gathering, analyzing, and organizing data to provide information for departmental projects, reports, and business initiatives.
  • Participates in team meetings, training sessions, and brainstorming activities to contribute ideas and learn about business operations.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams including sales, operations, inventory, and customer service to support business objectives.
  • Gains exposure to sales planning, customer relationship management, account development, and consultative selling practices.
