The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating work, following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors handle both customer-facing work, such as greeting customers, identifying needs and solutions, and closing sales, and non-customer-facing work, such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also promote store safety through safety walks, hazard reporting, and reinforcing safety and lifting instructions. The supervisor works with leaders to identify practices that support sales and service objectives, then communicates those practices to the team to encourage customer-focused behavior and goal attainment. They may supervise associates in other departments as needed, and must communicate concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. The role may occasionally involve opening or closing the store or serving as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, but occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
