The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors support customer-facing sales and service, as well as non-customer-facing work such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also promote store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and reinforcing safe equipment use and lifting practices. The supervisor works with leaders to identify effective approaches for meeting sales and service objectives and communicates those practices to the team. They may supervise associates in other departments as store needs require, so broad product knowledge and the ability to work across departments are important. The role also requires communicating concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. Supervisors may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, trainings, or neighboring stores may be needed.
