The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors support customer-facing work such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, identifying solutions, and closing sales, as well as non-customer-facing work such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also promote store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and reinforcing safety and lifting directions. The supervisor works with store leaders to identify approaches and behaviors that support sales and service objectives, then communicates those practices to the team to encourage customer-focused behavior and goal attainment. The role may involve supervising associates in other departments, communicating concerns and morale to management, and occasionally opening or closing the store or serving as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
