The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors handle customer-facing activities such as greeting customers, understanding their needs, recommending solutions, and closing sales, as well as non-customer-facing activities including down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also support store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and reinforcing safety and lifting practices. The supervisor works with leaders to identify effective approaches for meeting sales and service objectives, then communicates those practices to the team to encourage customer-focused behavior and goal attainment. They may supervise associates in other departments as needed, requiring broad product knowledge and the ability to engage associates and customers across departments. The role also involves communicating concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. Individuals may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel may be needed for meetings, training, or support at neighboring stores or outlets.
