The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating work, following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors support customer-facing activities such as greeting customers, understanding their needs, recommending solutions, and closing sales, as well as non-customer-facing activities such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also promote store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and reinforcing safe work and lifting practices. The supervisor works with leaders to identify approaches that support sales and service objectives, then communicates best practices to the team. They may supervise associates in other departments as needed, requiring broad product knowledge and the ability to engage customers and associates across departments. They communicate concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. The role may occasionally involve opening or closing the store or serving as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
