About The Position

Columbia Hospitality is seeking a Sales & Events Task Force Manager to join their team. This role is responsible for meeting and exceeding sales expectations, providing conference services support, and fulfilling other property requests related to Sales & Events. The position focuses on achieving revenue goals through a sales plan, client development, managing key relationships, networking, and identifying new target markets. The role requires maintaining accurate records in the Sales & Events database, reporting weekly achievements, and soliciting new business through outside sales calls. The Sales & Events Task Force Manager will also conduct site inspections, client presentations, and respond to RFPs within 24 hours. They must be knowledgeable in client negotiations, closing tactics, and contractual language, differentiating from the competition and bringing value to potential customers. A seamless experience for the client from sales to event management is crucial. Travel or on-site property support may be required. Additionally, the role involves maximizing efficiencies, forecasting revenue, developing interdepartmental relationships, and complying with accounting standards. The position requires adherence to Columbia Hospitality policies and procedures, and additional functions may be assigned based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hospitality sales experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in sales and/or event management with extensive sales and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to accurately read/write business correspondence effectively.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions or approaches.
  • Strong personal skills, including time management, information analysis, problem-solving, planning and organizing, decision making, and delivery of results.
  • Strong interpersonal influence skills, including coaching, motivating, delegating, and relationship-building.
  • Demonstrates a strong grasp of mathematical operations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all applicable units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Analytical mindset and can utilize mathematical skills to assess data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights that drive strategy and decision-making.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office; Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in conducting client research, gathering relevant information, and staying updated on industry trends and developments.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to read a profit & loss statement.
  • Ability to present to senior management and clients in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to travel (including air or car, hotel overnight stays, and client entertainment.)

Responsibilities

  • Developing a full working knowledge of all applicable standards, policies and procedures.
