Responsible for generating event revenue by soliciting, securing, and managing social events and celebration business, including weddings, reunions, holiday parties, banquets, and other special occasions. This role serves as the primary sales contact for clients throughout the planning process, building strong relationships, and delivering exceptional service from initial inquiry through event execution. The Event Sales Manager collaborates closely with resort departments to ensure seamless event experiences while achieving or exceeding revenue goals and supporting the resort's overall profitability objectives. You will sell using renderings and floor plans, conduct hard-hat tours when available, and communicate confidently as construction milestones and opening dates evolve. This role calls for someone who enjoys building excitement, setting clear expectations, and shaping a new resort from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • At least two years of catering sales experience in an upscale hotel or resort.
  • Work background must reflect a successful track record of individual and team accomplishment and growth in hospitality event sales.
  • Working, hands-on knowledge of Delphi.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Must possess strong communication, listening, facilitation and problem-solving skills, computer skills, and financial acumen.
  • Ability to analyze, forecast data, and make judgments to ensure proper business is booked.
  • Expertise in delivering compelling sales presentations both in-person and virtually.
  • Proven ability to manage a large sales funnel with multiple proposals and contracts at any given time.
  • Have an understanding of event execution and the operational impacts of group business.
  • Ability to align sales commitments with service delivery and guest experience.
  • A strong track record of fielding and responding to group RFPs and inbound leads while maintaining consistent outbound prospecting.
  • Experience in maintaining strong client relationships via written and oral communication.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills while being detail-oriented and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Must successfully pass background and drug tests.
  • Deliver warm, professional service when interacting with guests, clients, vendors, and employees.
  • Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, electronically, and in writing.
  • Read, understand, and prepare contracts, event documents, correspondence, schedules, and other business materials.

  • Use the manual dexterity necessary to operate computers, office equipment, communication devices, and event-related materials.
  • Frequently sit, stand, and walk; occasionally climb stairs and bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and twist.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Safely operate company-authorized vehicles and equipment, which may include automobiles, vans, golf carts, and utility or all-terrain vehicles, and enter and exit such vehicles throughout the workday.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and meet company insurability requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E driver’s license if required for the position’s assigned driving responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, negotiate and generate definite business working through the appropriate hospitality channels such as phone calls, sales system database on past business/existing maintenance accounts, daily follow-up with RFP requests through CVENT and direct internal channels, referrals, event follow-up, and other means to find qualifying business for the resorts.
  • Responsible for planning, executing, and managing all the details for each meeting/event booked.
  • Finalize BEOs and vent resumes and attend weekly BEO meeting with operational departments.
  • Attend hospitality-related industry events specifically to identify new potential businesses.
  • Plan and conduct site visits with clients that best represent and showcase our resort and overall destination and brand.
  • Actively participate with industry (Bridal Expo by Metropolitan Weddings, The Knot, WeddingWire, etc.) and local organizations to generate leads for the resort.
  • Daily communication with key accounts and decision makers to identify future business for the resort. Engage in relationship building with those accounts to ensure proper follow-up on an ongoing basis.
  • Respond to all client inquiries within 24 to 48 hours, providing attentive service that exceeds expectations.
  • Assist with the development of key action plans and sales strategy that align with our overall core values and sales and catering goals.
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly department meetings and participate in other resort core culture events.
  • Prepare weekly reports to highlight sales activities and review with the team to ensure set goals are met. Track monthly production towards quarterly catering sales goals set forth by the Area Director of Sales.
  • Has a thorough understanding of resort facilities & amenities, Silver Dollar City Parks & Resort offerings, and the ability to effectively communicate the entire brand experience to potential clients.
  • Conduct site tours of the property for potential guests/clients and entertain them on the property during site inspections and pre-planning trips when appropriate. Complete required site forms to alert the hotel of the tours.
  • Ability to access and understand internal sales system (Delphi.fdc).
  • Maintain current knowledge of comp set, changes in the market/area to best position our resorts to the clients.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, share best practices, train, encourage and support our hosts.
  • Communicate effectively with our resort team, especially food & beverage, event technology, and operational departments to ensure the success of each group booked.
  • Conduct "Meet & Greet’ meetings with clients and coordinate handovers to Director of Banquets and/or Banquet Manager.
  • Collaborate with catering and sales teams to develop marketing plans, budget analysis, and event packages.
  • Assist marketing through monthly/weekly updates of event websites and social media with photographs, testimonials, and special promotions.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to determine how future events could be improved.
