About The Position

Silver Dollar City Resort is opening its first-ever landmark resort, a six-story, 262-room retreat in the Ozark Mountains. This role is responsible for generating event revenue by soliciting, securing, and managing social events and celebration business. The Event Sales Manager will serve as the primary sales contact for clients, building relationships and ensuring exceptional service throughout the planning process. This position collaborates with resort departments to ensure seamless event experiences and achieve revenue goals. The role involves selling using renderings and floor plans during the pre-opening phase, conducting hard-hat tours, and communicating evolving construction milestones and opening dates. The ideal candidate enjoys building excitement, setting clear expectations, and shaping a new resort from the ground up.

Requirements

  • At least two years of catering sales experience in an upscale hotel or resort.
  • Successful track record of individual and team accomplishment and growth in hospitality event sales.
  • Working, hands-on knowledge of Delphi.fdc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Strong communication, listening, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills and financial acumen.
  • Ability to analyze, forecast data, and make judgments to ensure proper business is booked.
  • Expertise in delivering compelling sales presentations both in-person and virtually.
  • Proven ability to manage a large sales funnel with multiple proposals and contracts.
  • Understanding of event execution and the operational impacts of group business.
  • Ability to align sales commitments with service delivery and guest experience.
  • Strong track record of fielding and responding to group RFPs and inbound leads while maintaining consistent outbound prospecting.
  • Experience in maintaining strong client relationships via written and oral communication.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Must successfully pass background and drug tests.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to use manual dexterity to operate computers, office equipment, communication devices, and event-related materials.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, and walk; occasionally climb stairs and bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and twist.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate company-authorized vehicles and equipment.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and meet company insurability requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E driver’s license if required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or a related field.
  • Working, hands-on knowledge of Cvent, Cendyn Proposals and Meeting Broker.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, negotiate and generate definite business through various hospitality channels, including phone calls, sales system database, CVENT RFP requests, referrals, and event follow-up.
  • Plan, execute, and manage all details for each meeting/event booked.
  • Finalize BEOs and event resumes and attend weekly BEO meetings with operational departments.
  • Attend hospitality-related industry events to identify new potential businesses.
  • Plan and conduct site visits with clients that showcase the resort and brand.
  • Actively participate in industry events (Bridal Expo, The Knot, WeddingWire) and local organizations to generate leads.
  • Maintain daily communication with key accounts and decision-makers to identify future business.
  • Engage in relationship building with accounts for ongoing follow-up.
  • Respond to all client inquiries within 24 to 48 hours with attentive service.
  • Assist with the development of key action plans and sales strategies aligned with core values and sales/catering goals.
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly department meetings and participate in resort core culture events.
  • Prepare weekly reports highlighting sales activities and review with the team to ensure goals are met.
  • Track monthly production towards quarterly catering sales goals.
  • Conduct site tours of the property for potential guests/clients and entertain them during site inspections and pre-planning trips.
  • Complete required site forms to alert the hotel of tours.
  • Access and understand the internal sales system (Delphi.fdc).
  • Maintain current knowledge of the competitive set and market changes to position the resort effectively.
  • Work in a team environment, sharing best practices, training, encouraging, and supporting hosts.
  • Communicate effectively with the resort team, especially food & beverage, event technology, and operational departments.
  • Conduct 'Meet & Greet' meetings with clients and coordinate handovers to the Director of Banquets and/or Banquet Manager.
  • Collaborate with catering and sales teams to develop marketing plans, budget analysis, and event packages.
  • Assist marketing with monthly/weekly updates of event websites and social media.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to determine areas for improvement.
