About The Position

The Sales Estimator is responsible for contracting profitable work and building relationships with new accounts. The Sales Estimator must also continue selling to existing accounts within the region of focus that aligns with the role and the company’s goals. This role involves understanding construction fundamentals, reading construction documents, performing data entry, and providing preliminary system layout and design for estimating projects. The position also requires communication with governing agencies, writing RFIs, attending sales meetings, conducting code research, monitoring plan room services, managing project portal websites, and attending trade shows. Additionally, the Sales Estimator will meet with clients, establish positive relationships with accounts, identify customer preferences, provide feedback and reports, and act as a company representative.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of estimating and selling security and fire protection services.
  • Working knowledge of estimating tools and forms.
  • Technically proficient in applicable design standards and codes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability and track record of performing work and meeting deadlines with minimum to no supervision.
  • Coordinates and works well with others.
  • Willingness to develop sales and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Light lifting of materials for delivery.
  • Onsite demands would require walking and standing for long periods of time, climbing and descending ladders/steps.

Responsibilities

  • Contracting profitable work and building relationships with new accounts.
  • Continuing to sell to existing accounts within the region of focus.
  • Understanding construction fundamentals and comprehending construction documents.
  • Downloading documents, setting up folders, and completing Excel and Word documents.
  • Working closely with other sales staff to complete estimates efficiently and accurately.
  • Data entry for companywide job tracking purposes.
  • Preliminary system layout and design for estimating of projects.
  • Communication with AHJ or other governing agencies.
  • Writing and submitting RFIs during the bidding phase of the project.
  • Attendance of RFP sales meetings as mandated by manager.
  • Code research related to projects as required.
  • Reviewing and monitoring online plan room services for future project opportunities.
  • Completing and maintaining contractor and owner pre-qualification forms as required.
  • Managing project portal websites.
  • Attending Trade Shows as needed, including setup, breakdown, and availability for questions.
  • Meeting with clients.
  • Establishing and maintaining a continuing positive relationship with new and existing accounts.
  • Identifying and analyzing customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.
  • Providing regular feedback and reports regarding performance.
  • Acting as a company representative with potential customers and clients.
  • Adhering to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
