About The Position

AVIAN is a company that provides industrial fire prevention and predictive maintenance solutions using Swiss-engineered infrared cameras and AI monitoring. Our system detects abnormal heat inside industrial facilities to flag fire risk before a fire starts and identify equipment wear before it causes unplanned shutdowns. We have a proven track record in industries like wood processing, recycling, and paper, and are expanding into new verticals such as data centers and battery storage facilities. We are seeking a Founding Sales Development Representative to join our US founding sales team, reporting to the SVP of Sales. This role is crucial for expanding our reach by initiating conversations with potential customers who may not be aware of our solutions. You will be the first point of contact, responsible for booking meetings that build pipeline for our account executives.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to prospect and generate leads independently.
  • Resilience in the face of rejection and persistence in follow-up.
  • Strong phone communication skills, including the ability to engage busy professionals, think on your feet, and handle objections.
  • Natural curiosity and a desire to understand industrial operations.
  • Competitive drive, coachability, and a desire for career advancement.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including CRM management (HubSpot) and disciplined follow-up.
  • Proficiency in using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Artisan) to aid in research and outreach.
  • Experience in roles such as SDR/BDR, inside sales, call-heavy account or support roles, recruiting, real estate, or hospitality, where persuasion through conversation was key.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience prospecting into core verticals such as wood processing, recycling, or paper.
  • Established relationships with plant operators, safety leaders, or facilities teams that can open doors.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate conversations with potential customers (plant managers, maintenance and reliability leaders, safety leaders, operations and executive buyers) primarily through phone calls.
  • Engage prospects in conversations, understand their needs, and book meetings.
  • Utilize email and LinkedIn to support outreach efforts and identify target prospects.
  • Plan and execute outreach strategies for trade shows, including pre-show meeting scheduling and post-show follow-up.
  • Qualify leads to determine the seriousness of their pain points, urgency, and decision-making authority.
  • Brief account executives on qualified leads, including customer pain points, involved parties, and reasons for urgency.
  • Identify opportunities to expand relationships to sister sites of existing customers.
  • Contribute to the development of the sales playbook by documenting successful outreach strategies, objection handling, and target lists.
  • Map accounts to identify key decision-makers and tailor outreach strategies based on individual needs (e.g., fire risk vs. equipment downtime).

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped variable compensation tied to meetings and pipeline generated.
  • Clear career path with opportunities to move into closing roles.
  • Direct access to the SVP of Sales, leadership team, and founders.
  • Modern technology stack with the freedom to utilize it.
  • A product that addresses urgent customer needs (fire prevention, downtime reduction).
  • Flexible, high-trust working model.
  • Opportunity to work with an international, customer-obsessed team.
