About The Position

TierZero is seeking its first Sales Development Representative (SDR) to build the outbound sales engine for the company. The CEO currently handles the entire sales cycle, and the closing motion is successful. This role is crucial for filling the top of the funnel and generating qualified pipeline. The SDR will work directly with the CEO to develop messaging, identify target personas, and establish a pipeline from scratch. This is an opportunity to shape the future sales strategy of TierZero, a well-funded startup trusted by companies like Discord and Drata, which offers AI agents to automate production work for engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Proven self-sourcing ability, with a track record of creating pipeline through personal outreach.
  • Experience with cold calling and a willingness to actively use the phone for outreach.
  • Experience prospecting into technical buyers such as engineering leaders, SREs, DevOps, or platform teams.
  • Startup or early-stage experience is strongly preferred, demonstrating the ability to prospect without established brand recognition or a full marketing team.
  • Genuinely curious with the ability to understand and articulate prospect pain points.
  • Builder mentality with a focus on iterating and improving outbound processes.
  • Competitive drive demonstrated through relentless effort and creative problem-solving.
  • High agency, with the ability to identify and fill gaps without waiting for instructions.
  • Technically credible, with the ability to quickly learn and use technical language to build trust with engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience prospecting in the observability, incident management, DevOps, or developer tools space.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Datadog, PagerDuty, or Sentry.
  • Experience at a company where you built outbound from zero.
  • Previous experience as the first or second SDR hire at a company.
  • Familiarity with prospecting platforms like Apollo or LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

Responsibilities

  • Create pipeline from scratch through cold calling, cold emailing, and creative prospecting into engineering organizations at Series C+ companies.
  • Research target accounts, map organizational charts, and identify key entry points within engineering departments.
  • Build and iterate on multi-step outbound sequences, testing messaging angles and calls to action.
  • Utilize customer language and authentic communication styles when engaging with technical buyers.
  • Collaborate with the founding team to define and refine the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), personas, and buying triggers.
  • Develop qualification frameworks to determine the value of potential meetings.
  • Establish dashboards, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and a predictable pipeline creation process.
  • Document successful strategies and processes to ensure repeatability and facilitate future team growth.
  • Become a domain expert in observability, incident management, Kubernetes, and CI/CD to engage effectively with technical buyers.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and differentiate TierZero's offerings.
  • Participate in demos and customer calls to deepen understanding of customer needs and sales dynamics.
