About The Position

The Sales Associate serves customers in Lowe’s Pro Services or another assigned department, helping them find products and services for home improvement needs. The role involves welcoming customers, listening and answering questions, helping customers locate and select merchandise, and ensuring their needs are met. Associates may occasionally load merchandise and prepare products to customer specifications, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. Department assignment depends on hiring needs and skillsets and may be in Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services.

The position primarily involves customer interaction and merchandise organization, though duties may vary by department. Associates may work indoors and outdoors and encounter varying weather and climate conditions, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. The role does not require regular travel, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
• At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
• Follow lifting guidelines, limiting single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed, and powered equipment requires proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
• Bilingual skills.
• Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
• Down-stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
• Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
• Cross-functionally train in other store areas to help deliver customer service.
• Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
• Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
