Full Time - Sales Associate - ProServices - Day
About The Position
The Sales Associate supports customers in the Pro Services department by providing friendly, professional service and helping customers locate and select products and services for home improvement needs. Associates answer questions, guide customers through shopping or checkout, handle merchandise, and help ensure orders and deliveries are accurate and on time. Department assignments and daily duties may vary according to store hiring needs and skillsets. The role may involve preparing merchandise to meet customer needs, such as cutting or bundling materials, and cross-training in other store areas. Occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed, but regular travel is not required. Work may take place indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying weather and climates, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Associates must follow lifting guidelines, limiting single lifts to 75 pounds and using team lifts or powered equipment as appropriate.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer to input, access, modify, or output information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines limiting single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts and powered equipment are used as appropriate.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- A trade-related certification relevant to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and down-stocking supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive the expected merchandise on time.
- Cross-train in other store areas to help provide customer service.
- Prepare department merchandise to meet customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
