About The Position
The Sales Associate (Customer Service Associate) welcomes customers to Lowe’s and helps them find products and services that meet their home improvement needs. The role involves listening to customers, answering questions, assisting with product selection and handling, organizing and replenishing merchandise, and occasionally loading merchandise. Department assignments depend on hiring needs and skills and may include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services. Duties may vary by department and include preparing merchandise to meet customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. The role does not require regular travel, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed. Work may involve both indoor and outdoor conditions, varying climates, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer to input, access, modify, or output information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or over 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines, limiting single lifts to 75 pounds and using team lifts minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
- Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate, select, and handle merchandise.
- Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and down stocking products.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other store areas to help provide customer service.
- Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Occasionally load merchandise.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
