About The Position

The Sales Associate is responsible for delivering excellent customer service and maintaining knowledge of merchandise to support customer satisfaction. The role calls for a proactive, vigilant, and engaged team member who demonstrates integrity and effective communication and works effectively in a dynamic retail setting. The Sales Associate also contributes to a positive work culture, employee involvement, and change management efforts within the retail organization. The position performs customer transactions and sales-floor support, including processing freight, assisting with price changes and markdowns, maintaining the register according to company policy, and supporting merchandising. It also involves housekeeping and maintenance duties, following safety and loss-prevention procedures, and assisting management as assigned. The role is in-store and requires working scheduled hours and performing listed physical functions, with or without accommodation. Responsibilities may change based on business needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Must work scheduled hours and perform the essential physical functions listed, with or without accommodation.
Must demonstrate sound judgment and discretion and be able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-location retail environment.

Responsibilities

Processes freight.
Assists with price changes and markdowns.
Balances the register according to company policy.
Bags merchandise efficiently during customer transactions.
Handles cash, checks, and credit cards correctly and according to company policy.
Obtains management approval when needed for returns, voids, and checks.
Performs assigned maintenance and housekeeping duties.
Provides customer service by greeting customers, following fitting-room policies, ringing customers in a timely fashion, thanking them for shopping, and inviting them to return.
Follows all safety procedures.
Maintains a professional, neat appearance, including wearing a name tag.
Assists management with merchandising the sales floor according to stock levels.
Explains exchange and refund policies to customers after transactions.
Assists the Store Manager with loss-prevention procedures, including preventing shoplifting and cash losses, reporting theft or dishonesty, and following current operational policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
