Full Time - Sales Associate - Inside Lawn & Garden - Opening
About The Position
The Sales Associate works in the Inside Lawn & Garden department, welcoming customers and helping them find products and services for home improvement needs. The role involves listening to customers, answering questions, helping locate and select merchandise, occasionally loading merchandise, organizing and replenishing shelves, and ensuring customer needs are met. Associates may also process orders and deliveries, prepare merchandise for customers, support checkout, and cross-train in other store areas. Work may involve both indoor and outdoor conditions and occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines that limit single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
- Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate, select, and handle merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other store areas to support customer service.
- Prepare merchandise to meet customer needs, such as tinting or mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
