About The Position
The Sales Associate (Customer Service Associate) welcomes Lowe's customers, helps them find and select products and services for home improvement needs, and provides friendly, professional customer service. The role is assigned to a store department based on hiring needs and skillsets; this posting is for Inside Lawn & Garden. Associates listen to customers, answer questions, help locate and handle merchandise, organize and replenish shelves, process orders and deliveries, and may prepare merchandise such as cutting or bundling materials. The role may also include occasional merchandise loading, guiding customers through shopping or checkout, and cross-training in other store areas. Work may take place both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying weather and other store conditions.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly and professional customer service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-train in other areas of the store to help deliver customer service.
- Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Occasionally load merchandise.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
