About The Position

The Sales Associate provides high-quality customer service through efficient sales and effective merchandising in a pleasant, clean retail environment. The role processes sales and a variety of payment types, assists customers using knowledge of inventory and store policies, organizes merchandise, and helps maintain store appearance and prevent loss. The position is located in a normal retail store environment with a typically moderate noise level and frequent exposure to dust.

Requirements

• High school graduate/GED or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Must be able to speak and understand English.
• Ability to work with a diverse staff, customer base, and individuals with disabilities is essential.
• Ability to determine when to direct a problem situation to a supervisor is required.
• Satisfactory results of all required background checks.
• Regularly stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; and talk and hear.
• Frequently move racks, bins, and stock, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Required vision abilities include depth perception, peripheral vision, distinguishing basic colors, and adjusting vision to bring objects into focus.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process customer sales quickly and accurately on the cash register.
• Process cash transactions, customer checks, charges, and store credits, and accurately balance the register drawer.
• Provide customer service by knowing inventory, sale information, store policies and procedures, and related information.
• Keep merchandise neat and organized by distributing stock appropriately and pulling stock when necessary.
• Assess merchandise and make pricing recommendations to the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.
• Maintain an orderly store appearance by vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, washing mirrors, doors, and windows, and keeping the register area clean.
• Help prevent loss by monitoring dressing rooms and observing customers.
• Answer the store telephone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
