About The Position

The Sales Associate provides high-quality customer service through efficient sales and effective merchandising in a pleasant, clean retail environment. The role processes customer transactions, assists customers with store and merchandise information, organizes stock and merchandise, supports loss prevention, and maintains store cleanliness. The position is located in a normal retail store environment with a typically moderate noise level and frequent exposure to dust. Duties and responsibilities may change, or new ones may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate/GED or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Must be able to speak and understand English.
• Ability to work with a diverse staff, customer base, and individuals with disabilities.
• Ability to determine when to direct a problem situation to a supervisor.
• Satisfactory results of all required background checks.
• Must be able to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, and talk and hear.
• Must be able to move racks, bins, and stock, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must have depth perception, peripheral vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process customer sales quickly and accurately on the cash register.
• Handle cash, checks, charges, and store credits, and accurately balance the register drawer.
• Provide customer service by knowing inventory, sale information, store policies and procedures, and related information.
• Keep merchandise neat and organized by distributing stock appropriately and pulling stock when necessary.
• Assess merchandise and make pricing recommendations to the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.
• Maintain an orderly store appearance by vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, washing mirrors, doors, and windows, and keeping the register area clean.
• Support loss prevention by monitoring dressing rooms and observing customers.
• Answer the store telephone.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
