About The Position

The Sales Associate works as part of a collaborative retail team, serves customers, and helps maintain store operations. The role offers the opportunity to learn while contributing to the community and supporting Goodwill’s retail operations. The position involves customer service, merchandising, register and cash-handling tasks, maintaining orderly sales and register areas, and performing general housekeeping duties.

Requirements

Effectively communicate with customers and GGW associates.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Settle customer complaints.
Perform basic math skills.
Stand for prolonged periods, up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift.
Bend and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
Have basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Nice To Haves

At least six months of previous work experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working in a retail environment.
Excellent customer-service-related skills.
Working knowledge of a cash register.
Multilingual, with complete fluency in English.

Responsibilities

Provide professional and courteous service to customers in the store, outside the store, and by phone.
Place merchandise on the sales floor in a timely manner.
Ring up items accurately and operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and calculator.
Handle cash accurately, including making change.
Maintain knowledge of merchandise and answer customer questions courteously and promptly.
Keep floor merchandise neat and orderly, including racks, shelves, bins, and hangers, and assist customers with purchase selections.
Maintain a clean, professional appearance.
Keep the register area orderly and clean.
Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary.
Perform general housekeeping and store upkeep as needed, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting restrooms and dressing rooms.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
