About The Position

The Sales Associate assists the store management team with the overall operation and performance of the store, including sales, merchandising, and operations. The role supports animal well-being and contributes to store success by following operational standards, pursuing sales goals, and helping ensure efficient daily operations. Associates strive to enhance the lives of pets and their people by providing friendly, knowledgeable service and helping customers select appropriate pet food, accessories, and other products. The position also involves maintaining a clean, organized, and safe sales floor; caring for animals in the store; supporting the fish system; and restocking merchandise. Associates follow company policies and procedures and Brand Standards, maintain a professional and positive attitude, and complete other duties assigned by store management. Most work takes place on the selling floor, and the schedule may include mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays according to business needs.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays according to business needs.
Ability to perform physical duties requiring exertion and dexterity, including repeatedly lifting up to 55 pounds several times throughout a shift.
Ability to spend most of the work time standing or moving around the sales floor.
Active listening when communicating with customers and employees, and active observation when merchandising the store.
Customer-service focus, effective relationship-building, and the ability to apply the service and selling model.
Ability to work independently at times and as part of a team.
Professionalism, a positive attitude, compassion for people and pets, and willingness to help others.

Responsibilities

Assist with sales, service, and customer-experience initiatives by demonstrating the company’s selling and service models.
Acknowledge, welcome, and thank customers in a friendly and timely manner.
Help customers select products and answer questions to support the needs of their pets.
Follow Brand Standards and company policies and procedures.
Work with the store team to meet or exceed targeted sales goals and daily sales goals.
Clean pet enclosures and ensure animals have appropriate food and water.
Support maintenance of the fish system.
Restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures and move products from the stockroom to the sales floor.
Maintain a clean, neat, and safe shopping environment and an organized sales floor.
Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude when communicating with customers and employees.
Complete tasks and other duties assigned by store management.
